INFO: HandHeld Products PowerTools and Registry Backup
INFO
Applies To: ITScriptNet V1/V2

The ITScriptNet client versions 2.0b and prior use the HandHeld Products RegBackup utility to save the registry as part of the unlock process when uploading an ITB program to a Dolphin 7900 or 9500.

HandHeld Products latest Operating System for the Dolphin 9500 and Dolphin 7900 has changed from the older Utilities or Utils directory to the new PowerTools directory. The ITScriptNet Client does not use the PowerTools directories to locate the RegBackup utility, so an automatic registry backup will not be performed. This can cause the terminal to revert to the Unregistered state if a cold boot is performed. When you start to collect data, you will receive the message 'This Unregistered terminal can only save 5 records'.

DETAILS

ITScriptNet versions 2.1 and higher do not require the terminal to be unlocked, and do not perform an automatic registry backup when uploading. There is no issue with cold-booting the Dolphin.

If you are using an ITScriptNet version prior to 2.1 on a Dolphin equipped with PowerTools, you must manually run the RegBackup utility after uploading your first ITB program to save the registry. If you do not, and the Dolphin is cold-booted, you must upload your ITB again to unlock the terminal.
