INFO: Troubleshooting ITScriptNet RF connection problems
INFO
Applies To: ITScriptNet V1/V2
Unable to connect to the ITScriptNet RF Host Server from a dolphin 7200, 7300, 7400, 7450, 9500 or PocketPC terminal.
DETAILS

There are several steps that must be followed to connect to the ITScriptNet RF Host Server from a terminal.

1) Ensure that the terminal can associate with the access point. At a minimum, you must configure the ESSID of the terminal to match the Access Point. Additionally, if you are using WEP security, you must set the WEP Keys and Default Key ID on the terminal. There are also other authentication methods such as LEAP that you may be using. Contact your network administrator if you are unsure what encryption modes your wireless network uses. Once you have configured security, your terminal should associate with the Access Point. Each terminal has a network status utility that will show you whether the terminal has associated.

2) Assign the terminal an IP address on the correct subnet. You must assign an IP address to the terminal that is on the same subnet as the server running the Host software. Make sure you use an address that is not already in use on the network. If your network supports DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol), you can use that to allow the address to be assigned automatically by the network. You may also be able to assign an address on a different subnet if your network can route them. Ask your network administrator for an address that you can use.

3) Ping the Host server to ensure that TCP/IP network communications is working. If you can ping the server from the terminal and vice versa, your network is configured correctly.

4) Configure the Host Server software. The server software must be configured to listen to the correct IP address and port. The default port is 61000. Make sure your network allows this port to be passed through any routers or bridges that may exist between your server PC and the Access Point.

5) Configure the Terminal. Make sure the Host Server PCs IP Address has been entered on the Terminal’s configuration screen. Also, use the Configuration Utility to verify that the Port used by the terminal matches the port used by the Host Server. The default port is 61000.

6) You can enable Logging on the Host Server to determine if any traffic has been received by the Server. This will help you troubleshoot problems such as incorrect script configuration, errors in the script, etc. Check the Enable Logging checkbox on the ITScriptNet Host to enable logging. The log files will be placed into the same directory where the software is installed, and will be named with the date that the file was created.
