Pre-Release of V 1.2 Omni, our new RF software
for HHP’s Dolphins
We are making our latest ITScriptNet™ product available to you
prior to its formal release in hopes of getting valuable feedback about the
product and to allow you to experience the power and ease of developing RF
applications with ITScriptNet - Omni. We took the user interface of our Batch
Plus product and added RF features with a few twists. For more information about

Application Highlight
Poor quality in products and services are easily quantifiable. Many companies
are willing to spend a fair amount of money to reduce mistakes. Calculating an
ROI for a data collection system to help in this area is easy and hard to deny.
We have been involved in several applications addressing quality control issues.
A car rental company is monitoring the placement of contracts in vehicles. A
label company scans a roll of labels and the carton to assure the correct
product is placed in the box. A company serving the automotive industry
re-labels boxes with new ship-to addresses, scanning the old and new labels to
make sure the products are the same and to record the new label’s serial number.
Obvious cost savings include the cost of returned merchandise and the related
shipping costs. It is hard to place a cost for an upset customer, or even the
loss of one.

(all names and companies will be kept confidential) please supply us the details
about a particular ITScriptNet feature used and we will consider publishing it
in a future section of Application Highlight.
Programming Tip
Automating batch data collection – In our last newsletter we addressed the
auto-download feature that simplifies retrieving data from the portable hand
held device. Using this feature in conjunction with the Auto-generation of
validation files feature found in Batch Plus can fully automate the downloading
of data and the uploading of updated validation files, eliminating all user
intervention. In the Plus generator go to Prompts, then Validation Files. Select
an existing validation file or add a new one. After highlighting the validation
file you want select Properties. The Auto Generate feature has three options.
Select the “On Every Upload” option. Whether you manually download data from the
terminal or use Auto-download the validation file will be re-generated and
uploaded to the terminal automatically. With these two features, the operator
simply places the device in the Homebase and the collected data is downloaded to
the PC automatically and the updated validation file uploaded to the terminal
without the user selecting any menu items on the PC or terminal, or clicking any
buttons. This type of program has real implications for a picking process where
the user downloads orders that were picked and gets a new list of orders to pick
automatically. For instructions on how to set up a program with auto-generation
of validation files refer to pages 110 to 115 of the Batch/Batch Plus User
Guide.
